1. The Strip
   The Las Vegas Strip is generally considered to be the section of Las Vegas Blvd S that begins at Russell Rd just past the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign, next to the Bali Hai Golf Club, and extends north 4.2 miles to Sahara Avenue where the City of Las Vegas begins. The strip is actually outside of the Las Vegas city limits in Clark County.

   Walking the strip is the best way to take it all in and although there are not many cross streets, there are numerous pedestrian walkways across the Blvd. There are at least 40 hotels on the strip and nearly all of them have casinos, multiple restaurants, pools, spas, nightlife, and entertainment. They each have a different style or theme so there will be lots of fun sightseeing experiences on your SmartHunts’ scavenger hunt Las Vegas, the Strip.

2. Fremont Street
   North of the Strip, in downtown Las Vegas where Las Vegas Blvd N begins, lies the birthplace of Las Vegas, E. Fremont Street. This 6-block pedestrian-only district is where it all began a SmartHunts’ scavenger hunt Las Vegas on Freemont Street.

   This is where you’ll find the original classic casinos like the Golden Nugget and loads of iconic neon signage. This is where the Rat Pack hung out, the nickname Glitter Gulch was born, and gambling first became legal in Nevada.

   Even though landmarks like the Aladdin Casino, the Pioneer Club and the Silver Slipper have closed, and Binion’s Horseshoe has changed hands, we still have the Golden Nugget and the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino to take us back to Las Vegas’ origins.

   Like the Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year and it may be generally older and seem less glamorous, but it’s also less expensive. Enjoy free live music every night of the year until 4 am plus the Downtown Rocks Concert Series.

   There are over 20 casinos in the Fremont Street area, 8 of which are on Fremont Street itself and gambling minimums tend to be low, $3 – $10. Also, hotels, rather than resorts, are more the norm so you can avoid hidden resort fees.

   Fremont Street has countless restaurants and bars serving every conceivable type of food and drink plus comedy clubs, nightclubs, and strip clubs.

   You generally get free drinks while you gamble but don’t forget to tip your servers!
   Four blocks of the pedestrian walkway are covered by an arched canopy and underneath, suspended 90 ft above Fremont Street is the world’s largest digital display screen, 90 ft wide by 1,375 ft long, and every night from 6:00 pm – 2:00 am Viva Vision Light Show makes its appearance. The Fremont Street Experience!

   You can also ride a Zipline down the length of the mall, seated or superhero-style.
   Neonopolis, at 450 E Fremont, is a 250,000 sq ft complex and generally speaking the first floor is food and drink, the second-floor nightclubs and the third floor entertainment but the Metropolitan Gallery/Art Museum Las Vegas and the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art are located there as well.

   The Mob Museum – “100 Years of Made Men & Their Associates” at 300 Stewart Ave is a must visit fun and educational experience featuring 3 floors of exhibits, artifacts, anecdotes, interactive displays, and mob lore.

   – Golden Nugget Las Vegas – featuring a 200,000-gallon shark tank.
   – Golden Gate Hotel & Casino – open since 1906, showcasing historical artifacts, gambling ledgers, and more.
   – Main Street Station Casino & Hotel – features a slab of the Berlin Wall in the men’s room.
   – The D Casino & Hotel – home to Vegas’ only two-story casino

   – Circa Resort & Casino – the historic Vegas Vickie cowgirl neon sign has finally been restored and now graces the entrance to Circa’s Cocktail Lounge.
   Speaking of iconic neon signage, Cowboy Vegas Vic the 90 ft tall mascot that adorned the Pioneer Club’s facade has recently been restored and resides on the pedestrian walkway.
   – The Fremont East District Sign and Oscar’s Martini Neon Sign are very cool, definitely worth a visit and totally Instagram able.
   – The Neon Museum Las Vegas is a must visit for vintage signage aficionados. It is located at 770 Las Vegas Blvd N on nearly 3 acres and is dedicated to restoring and preserving Las Vegas’ vintage neon signs. Guided tours are available through the outdoor Neon Boneyard as well.
3. Welcome To Las Vegas Sign
   The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign is located at 5100 Las Vegas Blvd S
   at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip across from the Bali Hai Golf Club.

   The 25 ft tall Las Vegas landmark was designed by Betty Whitehead Willis and erected in 1959.

   Betty was born in Nevada in the 1920s, raised in Las Vegas and studied at the California Art Institute. After working at MGM Studios in Los Angeles she returned to Las Vegas and brought her love of neon art back with her.

   She was working as a commercial artist when approached by a salesman who’d been tasked by Clark County to have a sign designed to welcome visitors to Las Vegas. Betty designed the now world-famous sign in the exaggerated Modern/Google style, the county purchased the sign for $4,000 and the rest is history.

   Betty designed countless signs over the years and some of the more famous were for the Blue Angel Motel, the Del Mar Motel and the Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino.

   An extensive collection of historic Las Vegas neon signage can be seen at The Neon Museum and Boneyard, 770 Las Vegas Blvd N, just north of the Fremont Street District.
